What is Obesity?
A body mass index (BMI) > 30 is obese, that is 20% >normal weight. A BMI between 25 & 29.9-> Over weight.
BMI is a measure of body fat based on your wt in relation to your height.
Mayo Clinic defines OBESITY as the condition of being grossly fat or overweight and results from greater intake of calories than are not burned by Activities of Daily Living and poor food choices and combination.
Bottom line… Being FAT- It increases the risk of serious health problems.
Treatment-> LifeStyle Medicine Strategies that include diet and exercise but most importantly retraining yourself how to really eat and one cannot discount body composition which takes in account visceral fat. For example: we all know the skinny guy who everyone thought was a picture of health only to drop dead of a heart attack or the such just after there yearly exam.
These stats are disturbing. Considering they are from 2010 even more so because there are 3 million new cases reported yearly~
